STUDENT RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

Undergraduate, MSc and PhD students

We welcome motivated students in Physics and Mathematics who are interested in joining a focused research environment. The group offers early exposure to research, reading groups, seminars and carefully defined problems in mathematical and theoretical physics.

Relevant directions include integrable models, supersymmetric gauge theories, string theory, special functions, statistical physics and nonlinear systems.

POSTDOCTORAL & VISITING RESEARCHERS

Research visits and collaboration

ISTRINGY welcomes enquiries from postdoctoral researchers and visiting scientists who have, or are preparing, external funding for a research stay in Istanbul. Visits can include research collaboration, seminars, mini-courses and interaction with students.

Funding routes

• TÜBİTAK 2218 National Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Programme — a route for eligible postdoctoral research hosted in Türkiye, with support for 6–24 months subject to the current call conditions.
• TÜBİTAK 2221 Visiting Scientists and Sabbatical Leave Fellowship — host-led support for short research visits and longer research or sabbatical stays, subject to the current call conditions.
• TÜBİTAK 2216 Research Fellowship Programme for International Researchers — a route for qualified international PhD students and early-career postdoctoral researchers when calls reopen. The programme is currently closed.
• TÜBİTAK–TWAS 2216B Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Fellowships — a possible route for eligible researchers from developing countries when calls are open.
• Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships — an international-mobility route for postdoctoral researchers of any nationality. A suitable Boğaziçi University unit would serve as the formal host, while ISTRINGY can offer a research environment and discuss research fit.
• TÜBİTAK 2236 CoCirculation3 — an MSCA COFUND-backed postdoctoral mobility programme in Türkiye, normally for 24 months. Proposed projects must meet the programme’s Green Deal requirements.
• TÜBİTAK 2232-A / 2232-B International Fellowships — more comprehensive routes for established and early-stage researchers with international experience who plan to conduct research in Türkiye.

We also welcome postdoctoral and visiting researchers supported by other external fellowships.
